This can't possibly be true. The Won - my personal savior - and my NPR have told me that cuts in Government (note, "G") spending inevitably lead to rioting in the streets, as well as rains of blood.
Have I been lied to?

Remember: things could be better.
The DJIA hit another record high yesterday, even as NPR was talking about an ADP report that 200,000 people found jobs in February.
It could have been better, people, If only the Rethuglicans would back down.

"Despite sequester cuts, Dow Jones Index reaches new high"
I just can't understand this. I was assured the country would grind to a halt and 170 million people would be thrown out of work.
Is there sort of Rethuglican Jedi mind-meld at work here?

It's raining, here in Atlanta
No falls of blood, nor of frogs, but it's only a matter of time.
I'm sure of it.
I'm sure of it.
Meteors, people! Meteors!
If a meteor hits the earth, the Rethuglicans and their sequester will have a lot for which to answer.

Think how much better the economic news could be...
As the DJIA hits historic highs, I can't help but think how much better the economic news would be if the Rethuglicans had stopped the sequester from going forward.
Deli of the Damned
What day is it? The sequester has been going on for so long, I am beginning to lose track of time.
Today I stopped at Goldberg's Deli on the way to work. It was filled with people reduced to eating small donut-like bits of bread smeared with some sort of thin cheese, with sliced purple onion and thin, oh-so-thin, slices of some foul-smelling fish. Every face had that hollowed-out look that bespoke oncoming starvation and death. In every eye you could see fear for the future. All hope gone. The only change the nearness of the grave. Truly, the deli of the damned.
Continuing on to work, I listened to the morning truth on National Public Radio. The Dow Jones Industrial Average will plummet today, holders of government sinecures will begin receiving notice that they'll have to take seven furlough days between April and October (the horror of it all!), the sequester is all the fault of the Rethuglican party, which was warned of the consequences of the sequester, but has now - somehow - found ways of making our Czar of Czars, His Imperial Majesty, Our Lightworker, President of all Presidents Obama take the blame. I refuse to accept this. NPR, far from broadcasting the truth, is fallen to lying.
Oh, my beloved country, that it has come to this.

Think of the children!!!
Dey three of sequestration. The children are already being affected.
Today, just outside Publix, I passed three little moppets wearing some sort of brown (doubtless neofascist) uniforms, jumping up and down to stay warm in the freezing cold, while begging for support and offering to exchange cookies for money.
Has it truly come to this? Fascist children out in the freezing cold, begging for support? Have the politicians in Washington no love for the children?
America is becoming more and more grim. I see societal collapse, starvation in our near future.
Please, King Obama, seize emergency powers and save us!
For the children.

The horror! The horror!
Day two of the sequester. I'm at Starbucks on Roswell Road while my car gets an oil change and a tire rotation at DeKalb Tire.
A block away, up at Mt. Vernon and Roswell Road, a bunch of fully-employed police officers have pulled over some poor unfortunate and cordoned off the area. Blue lights everywhere. Doubtless, they're looking under seats for spare change to fund ongoing operations.
The people driving/walking/jogging by the front of Starbucks wear the grim mien of the fiscally damned, but we are a resilient people and I have no doubt that with Emperor Obama's help, we will pull through this.

And so it begins...
Day one of the sequester. To my knowledge, there have been no rains of blood, nor of frogs.
